WELCOME to HSA's Family

Hello HSA Family

It's fast turning into the sad time of year when our racing season comes to an end.  All is not lost because you can still enjoy a lovely lunch and some HSA camaraderie after Haul Out on Saturday, October 10.  Work detail begins at 10 am as per tradition.  Lunch will begin around 1 pm, but the time may vary depending on task progress and the size of our work party.  Lunch is free for anyone who helps. Non-workers pay $ 5 per person at the door.  Lunch will be a baked potato bar, Skyline chili, a veggie tray, and dessert.  We need a headcount to have enough food for everyone, so please RSVP to Diane Pierok at dpierok@aol.com ASAP and come help us with Haul Out!

It's also a perfect time to think over everything that's taken place this sailing season and nominate those you feel deserve one of HSA's special sailing awards for 2026. If you were a proud recipient of one of these trophies for 2025, please bring it to Haul Out and give it to Jerry Brewster, so we can prepare it for the 2026 winner.  And if you have a 2026 nomination, bring it to Haul Out or send your nomination letter to Joe Fulford and Jerry Brewster.  Here is a brief listing of HSA's annual awards.  See your HSA Directory, pgs. 35-43, for previous winners, and stay tuned for more news about our awards Banquet in November.

Bob's Sportsmanship Award (named for Bob Darlin and awarded for service and sportsmanship)

Frank Peters Memorial Sportsmanship Award (named for Pete's dad and donated by Bob Boies and awarded for sportsmanship exhibited over the sailing season)

US Sailing Sportsmanship Award (Donated by US Sailing Association in 1986 and awarded to the person who has done the most to improve or promote the sport of sailing on Acton Lake or who has, through their behavior, promoted the sport of sailing on Acton Lake)

Larry L. Johnson Challenger Trophy (awarded to the member who constantly strives to improve their sailing skills, demonstrates good sportsmanship, and is active within the club and participates in a majority of the club's activities while not qualifying for any other award, including any sailing series place award for the year.)
